"Modern Cabinets did a great job on the custom cabinets for my condo. I am extremely pleased with how my cabinets turned out -- they look amazing and the price is fair considering all the extra work that goes into making high end custom cabinets. I worked with Tina (runs the office) and she delivered on every single aspect we discussed, including the 2-3 week timeframe to make my cabinets. I asked for extra self closing drawers in my cabinets, a utensil organizer, a towel rack and she had no problem including those in my order without charging me more, even after we settled on a price. She also told me to bring in the handles I wanted so that they could install them for me which was a nice gesture. The little things definitely matter to me and Modern Cabinets certainly pays attention to the details. They were able to finish the job completely including delivery in exactly 3 weeks which I was happy about so you can expect quick turnarounds if you are on a tight schedule with your remodel. 

On top of it all, everyone at the shop is laser focused on customer service and doing whatever it takes to make YOU happy. The owners and employees are all great people and I highly recommend using them if you are looking for quality work and a smooth process.  You won't have to stress out about anything because they make sure you get what you want. They even walked me around the shop to show cabinets that they are working on for other customers in case I needed ideas for my own. Not sure how Paula R. (who wrote the negative review below) could experience poor communication/service because the communication was clear and I always knew what phase they were working on along the way. The Management team in the office: Joe and Tina are very courteous and knowledgeable about the Cabinets of today. . I have done business with this company for over 20 years and it is unfortunate that Yelp removes their reviews by filtering the good reviews out.. I just had a set of Kitchen cabinets made for my Kitchen and the cabinets were made in a timely manner and the quality was all wood interiors.. The cabinets were built on time at their estimated time frame.. As a owner builder and General contractor.. I know what I am looking for.. The quality of materials and the finish is excellent.. Having a East Bay cabinet company compared to a out of state company that many of the Home Depots and Lowe's uses.. I am able to visit their manufacturing facility in the East Bay. Wow do they have the machinery to fully custom make the precision dovetailing of drawers and corners.. I have gone to see some of the cabinet work they have delivered to Bay area Multi Million dollars Black Hawk, Alamo and Danville homes.. you will be amazed.. They build cabinets all over the peninsula and Marin county... When you meet the team at Modern cabinets they don't boast about their past they just show you what they have and you can imagine what they can do. They have been in business for over forty years and the father Sal Tedesco began the cabinet shop with integrity and quality workmanship it shows.. The family helped to grow the business and continue that legacy.. Sal now retired still has his input and continues to visit the family cabinet shop.. We are very happy with our cabinets and felt the price we paid was more than reasonable. We worked with a designer for our kitchen and family room remodel who told us that only 12" deep cabinets were available for our entire wall of cabinets in the family room. Joe at Modern Cabinets told us we could have any depth we wanted. We ended up with the most beautiful cabinets we could have imaged, and they are 22" deep. The workmanship is flawless and it is very apparent they take pride in a job well done.

I will address the poor customer servicea prior review mentions. They don't have that "polish" when it comes to working with the public, perhaps because they are used to dealing directly with contractors. They just need to learn how to schmooze a little better. 

During demolition of our kitchen, a support beam was discovered right where a cabinet was supposed to go so some major modifications needed to be made. We ended up splitting the cost with the contractor to have another cabinet built. Because the new cabinet was built and paintedafter the others there was a concern that the paint would not be an exact match. We did become frustrated because there was a lack of communication when there was a considerable delay in getting the new cabinet. However, it ended up that Modern Cabinets was not satisfied with the replacement paint color and had to send it back several times before they were happy. This attention to detail resulted in a PERFECT match. 

The bottom line is that every project has its challenges and there will be frustration along the way. What my husband and I cared about is that the end product is something we will be happy with for a very long time. Whether or not someone is a slick salesperson who knows just the right thing to say in every situation matters far less than if they are masters at their craft. The people at Modern Cabinets are proud of their workmanship and it shows.

Wow, there are not enough superlatives to describe my interaction with Modern Cabinet representatives.  I had water damage in my 34 year old kitchen.  Everything had to be torn out.  Joe came to my home and we sketched out my dream kitchen with all the bells and whistles of modern cabinetry.  Once the design was in place (yes on a computer screen so I could see it), Tina helped me with finding the perfect cherry stain (there are many).  I also had an idea of creating a floating island that I could use with my 3 little granddaughters when we have our sleep overs and do cooking shows that grandpa makes DVD's from.  To actually see it come from my head to reality just blows my mind.  

Everything I asked for (including glass in some cabinet doors), soft closing everything, special spaces for cookie sheets, revision after I realized I could upgrade my stove from 30 to 36 inches has been realized.  

You just cannot get that from the big box stores.  Which includes the quality of the wood, stain, selection......custom to your littlest detail.

The personalities of everyone in the shop is you asked for it and we will give it to you with a friendly, can do spirit.

I will be recommending Modern Cabinet to all that will listen, and some that will not!!!!

I was amazed at how reasonable custom cabinets actually are.  Yes, they are more than the big box stores, but the quality and ability to get exactly what you want is so worth it.  

I just cannot wait until my kitchen is completed.  As an Italian former Jersey women, that is the hearth of my home and I cannot wait to have it stocked and working in it.

"Our contractor recommended Modern Cabinets and we went out to their site before making a decision. We liked that the equipment they used is all computer controlled, so things are cut exactly to the measurements needed.  Our layout required a very precise fit.  Modern Cabinet also helped with a design for the "back" side of a long peninsula cabinet .  The staff there worked together to come up with a beautiful custom solution that makes that cabinet bank a centerpiece. 

We wanted a finish that we had seen somewhere else, but didn't have samples, just photos.  Modern Cabinets worked with us until they had the finish we wanted.   Our cabinets installed beautifully, just a few small corrections were needed, and we ordered some additional shelves, which they produced quickly.  We were also able to order the exact door style we wanted. 

We had the opportunity to work with Modern Cabinets a year and a half later when our brand new faucet failed and the water pooled on the granite and then ran down the sink cabinet front. We had to have two cabinet doors replaced and  we were really worried about recreating that same finish.  Modern Cabinets came through again with a perfect match.   

The cabinets in a kitchen remodel are critical to the whole project, and I would not hesitate to use Modern Cabinets again, or to recommend them to other."

"I just completed cabinets with modern for a kitchen and three baths.  They were great though the whole process including installation.   If you're even thinking of a major remodel using stock cabinets - give Modern a try.  Unlike stock cabinet companies they do not nickle and dime you for every 'feature', they honor their prices, and the workmanship appears first rate.  You can customize whatever you want.  The only drawback is they don't have a fancy showroom with lots of sales people: make an appointment.   

I see the negative review on the small job. Certainly not reflective my experience at all.  Tina and Joe were responsive through the entire process.   I'll certainly return and recommend them to anyone."
